I create content that:
a) inspires people to connect with nature
b) educates them on how to protect it.
My goal is to be the hiker friend you trust for honest gear recommendations, practical hiking advice, nuanced commentary, and down-to-earth vlogs (with, hopefully, some humour).
I explore all kinds of topics like environmentalism, gear, animal welfare, fashion, accessibility, and sustainability - usually from a hiker’s perspective. YouTube is my main focus right now, but I do like to post the occasional short form video on Instagram and TikTok, and dabble in other creative mediums like photography and digital painting.
About fareweld.
Hey! I'm Elliot. Also known as the 'eld' at the end of fareweld.
The backstory…
Hi, I’m Elliot Dickinson (they/she), the person behind Fareweld. I’m a graphic designer by day and an online outdoor enthusiast by night.
I’ve always loved nature, but having a completely unrelated 9-5 left me feeling a bit useless whenever another headline about climate change or biodiversity loss popped up. The itch to do something more was there, but I felt like I lacked the means, and the qualifications.
I came to realise, though, that even though I’m not a scientist or ecologist or zoologist, there were ways I could try to help, even indirectly. Maybe I could inspire someone to go hiking for the first time. Maybe I could inspire someone to think about the way they buy clothing. Maybe I could inspire someone who would later become a scientist or ecologist or zoologist. I genuinely believe that the more people experience nature, the more people will want to protect it, and I feel like that’s where I can make the most impact.
So, whether it’s hiking gear advice, a vlog in the countryside, or a video essay about environmentalism, the aim is simple: plant the seed, and get more people touching grass.

When I started hiking again, I wanted to share with others how beneficial getting outside can be, and that it doesn’t have to be intimidating or expensive. I also really care about wildlife, so I try to make everything through a sustainable and environmentally-friendly lens. Nature is for everyone, and I really feel that if people spent more time outside, they’d care more about how we can protect it.

I’ve been making stuff for years now - I actually uploaded my first YouTube video back in 2010 (please don’t look for it lol). Every time I would start a new channel or account, I’d quickly get bored because I wasn’t passionate about the subject matter!
I started making short-form content about outdoorsy stuff in October 2024, but I started taking it more seriously in January 2025 when I rebranded my abandoned YouTube channel and began uploading videos to a semi-regular schedule. It feels so much better to be making stuff that I feel passionate about!
